Caithness Rainchaser - Pedigree

RAINCHASER's sire LOEWENHERZ has outstanding bloodlines.

In 1998 Loewenherz competed mainly in dressage. He is well into Elementary grade dressage and has won at Medium level. He was placed at nearly every outing. He has now upgraded to Medium level.
Loewenherz has competed successfully in showjumping and showhunter. As a five year old he capped off his season at the 1992 Horse of the Year show with winning the Warmblood Showjumping Futurity, the Five Year Old Showhunter of the Year and came third in the Five Year Old Showjumping Championship. He has also competed in horse trials up to Novice standard.

Loewenherz's sire POLARSCHNEE was born at the famous Rantazu Stud in 1971, passed his Selection Test in 1973 and his Performance test in 1974. Polarschnee was then used for stud purposes only until he was exported to Australia in 1982, where he started a very successful career in showjumping and eventing. He proved his class by upgrading within two and a half years to A Grade until a paddock injury ended his career in 1984. Polarschnee is sire of Jagermeister II, Andrew Nicholson's mount, whom he rode at the Olympics in Atlanta and at the World Championship in The Hague.

Polarschnee's sire line GAZAL-GAZAL VII is known for consistently producing jumping potential. Polarschnee's dam POLARROSE was the youngest daughter of the lengendary black POLARFAHRT, who was regarded as the best mare from Trakehner ever to reach West Germany.

Loewenherz's dam LIEBCHEN V was born in West Germany in 1979. Liebchen was classified as a Principal Studbook Mare in 1984 with good marks, putting her in the top 10% of mares. She is an excellent representative of the mare line of LIBELLE 656. This line is renowned for producing good breeding type and above all excellent utilitarian characteristics. Liebchen herself is a strong, tall (16.2hh) mare with a lot of presence, always friendly towards people and 100% reliable in any situation. Liebchen's sire ITH (USA) is the sire of 1987 Dressage at Devon winners Auf Wiedersehen, Tuxedo and You're The Tops, the excellent A grade showjumper Belmont and many other good sporthorses, and is the son of the famous IBIKUS (1967). Ibikus is regarded as on the post WWII foundation sires of the breed.

Rainchaser's sire's progeny are just starting to make a mark on the competitive scene now. Scherzo, as a 5 year old, won the 1997 South Island Dressage Futurity and came 7th in the final at the New Zealand Dressage Championships.

In 1998 he won the New Zealand Young Dressage Horse Championship Final under international judges and also placed 3rd in the National Medium Dressage Championship as a six year old. Another mare by Loewenherz won the dry Warmblood broodmare at the North Island All Breed Show.

Loewenherz's offspring have been the recipients of some excellent comments by Mr Eric Lette (Chairman of the international FEI dressage panel) and Mr Clements Dierks when ridden at clinics in New Zealand.
